Crossing to the east of the Cordillera Blanca, we descend to Conchucos or Konchukos Zone, that boast of pictureques villages such as San Marcos, Huari, Acopalca, San Luis, Chacas, Pomallucay, Yanama, Pomabamba, Sihuas, and Piscobamba, this last located closed to Marañon River in the high central jungle of Peru.
The impressive and well- preserved archaeological complex of Chavin is dated between 1200 B.C. and 200 B.C., and was placed on the UNESCO the World Cultural Heritage List in 1985.
