Lake 69Spectacular ascent to one of the most beautiful lakes in The White Range (Cordillera Blanca), an intense turquoise lake on the base of Chacraraju (6112 m.a.s.l.) and Pisco Peaks (5800 m.a.s.l.). During the trip, there will be an explanation about Campo Santo, where Yungay was, a city that disappeared by an avalanche caused by the earthquake in 1970. Then you can enjoy Llanganuco Valley, surrounded by Huandoy, Huascaran, Chacraraju, Chopicalqui, Yanapaccha and Pisco Peaks, where you can appreciate its immense turquoise lagoons. From Huaraz city it takes 2 hours to arrive to Cebollapampa Valley, the start point of the trek. The trail takes us through a fascinating landscape of rivers, waterfalls and mountains.

Itinerary

Very early in the morning you will be transfered from your hotel towards LlanganucoValley, north of the Callejón. On the way, you can appreciate the magnificent and colorful Callejon de Huaylas (Huaylas Valley) with its green fields and white peaks, some of them more than 6000 meters, including the highest mountain in Peru, The Huascaran. During the trip, there will be an explanation about Campo Santo, where Yungay was, a city that disappeared by an avalanche caused by the earthquake in 1970. After that, it starts the ascent to LlanganucoValley, surrounded by Huandoy, Huascaran, Chacraraju, Chopicalqui, Yanapacha and PiscoPeaks, where you can appreciate its immense turquoise lagoons. From Huaraz city it takes 2 hours to arrive to CebollapampaValley, the start point of the trek. After 3 to 4 hours ascending through a fascinating landscape of rivers, waterfalls and mountains, you will arrive to Lake 69, where you will be able to lunch, take pictures and enjoy the spectacular lake and ChacrarajuPeak with more than 6000 meters. The descent to Cebollapampa takes from 1 to 2 hours; this is where the car is waiting to take you back to Huaraz city. Arrival in Huaraz approximately at 6:00 p.m. and transfer to your hotel.
